HERDING

PInAKOTEKA

Herding is an inseparable part for shepherd breeds, nowadays this activity is unfortunately rarely cultivated and promoted, which is a great pity.

We checked Ciri's drives at the Energizer Ranch with Tomasz Pecold - national judge of shepherding and herding dog work, who is well known in the environment as he was the one who mainly built the current shepherding in Poland.

Ciri was very positively evaluated at the training which opened the way for us to further train and learn about the world of shepherding.

In September 2023, thanks to the efforts of the Shepherd Dog Working Section at ZKwP Będzin, I was able to participate in the NHAT exams.

Ciri has passed the NHAT exam.

We want Shetland Sheepdogs not to lose their natural shepherding instincts and the ability to cooperate with humans.

I've always wanted to see what herding looks like from a trainer's perspective so I went to the Energizer Ranch to Tom Pecold to try my hand at these unfamiliar waters. Ciri caught on pretty quickly and at Tom's insistence we visited him a few more times before the cold winter weather set in for training. Slowly an idea was forming in my head that it would be fun to pass the NHAT test with Ciri.

The year 2022 - the beginning of an adventure - training with Tom Pecold

At the end of 2022, the ZKwP Będzin branch opened a working shepherd dog section The section manager is Piotr Strzelecki, a trainer and breeder with many years of experience. I attended the organisational meeting of the newly established section and later we went to a training session.

In August ZKwP Będzin with shepherd section announced NHAT, TS/CS and HWT TS/CS tests which took place on 9 and 10 September.

Ciri passed the NHAT test which makes me very happy and gives me hope for further shepherding work when time allows.
